The Black Beauty eggplant is an old heirloom variety that is still highly sought after in home gardens. Black Beauty is a large, dark purple, tear-drop -shaped brinjal that can weigh between 0.2-1 kg each. Brinjal (baigan) contains many nutrients like vitamin B2, vitamin B1, vitamin B5, and vitamin B6 and is also rich in calcium, iron, phosphorus, potassium, zinc, and manganese.

  • Okra or lady’s finger commonly known as bhindi is the most famous vegetable in India that is very easy to grow. It is not only a great addition to your diet but also looks lovely during the growing season because of its beautiful flowers.
  • Brinjal Black Medium is a very popular vegetable in India, it can be cooked in a different way. The Black Beauty eggplant is an old heirloom variety that is still highly sought after in home gardens.
  • Where to grow: Balcony or terrace garden Growing season: Spring and Summer Sowing method: Direct Seeds sowing depth: 0.5 to 1 inch Germination Time: 5 to 14 days from sowing Germination temperature: 18 to 32°C Harvesting: 60 to 70 days Plant vigor: Strong plant with short internodes
  • Sunlight – Okra or ladyfinger needs at least 6 hours of full sunlight in a day.
  • Water – Give water regularly to your okra plants. It can also tolerate dry conditions; give 1 liter of water per week and keep the soil moist, especially in the growing season.
  • Soil – Okra (Ladyfinger) plant prefers well-drained, fertile soil for better results.
  • Temperature – The ideal temperature for growing okra is ranging between 20-35 degree Celsius.
  • Fertilizer – Use water-soluble fertilizer every 4-6 weeks after the okra plants reach 6 inches in height.
