Red Round Radish Growing Season In India

Radishes are primarily grown during the winter season in India, with planting from October to December and harvesting from December to February. In some regions with milder winters, you can also grow radishes in late winter or early spring (January to March)

How to Grow Red Round Radish in Pot

Direct seed sowing in any pot/grow bag is the best way to grow red round radishes because transplanting disturbs their roots. The ideal temperature for red-round radish seeds germination is 12-23°C. The best soil mix for planting red round radishes is –

  • 40% normal garden soil
  • 40% cow manure or vermicompost
  • 10% coco peat
  • 5% bone meal powder
  • 5% neem cake powder

Red Round Radish Seeds Sowing Method

Sow round red radish seeds directly in a pot or grow bag about 0.5 inches deep and 2 inch apart in soil. Give light water through a watering can and keep the soil moist. Radish seeds will be germinated within 4-10 days. Place the container in a sunny place where it receives proper sunlight.

When To Fertilize Round Red Radish Plant

Red radish or other radishes does not need much fertilizer after planting. Radish like plenty of phosphorous so, make sure that you have added organic fertilizer and bone meal powder into the soil before seeds sowing. Don’t use too much nitrogen because it will encourage heavy top growth and discourages root bulbs.

Red Round Radish Care Tips

Water – Give regular water to radish plants and keep the soil moist not soggy.
Soil – For better results for radish plants use well-drained, slightly acidic to neutral soil with a PH of 6.0 to 7.
Sunlight – Radishes need full sun (at least 6 hours of direct light is necessary for the fast growth of radish plants).
Temperature – Ideal temperature for growing radish plants is 10-30°C.
Common pests and diseases – Some pests like snails, slugs, aphids, flea beetles, cutworms, and cabbage loopers can attack radish plants. Cabbage maggots can spread a disease called a bacterial black spot to the roots. Use organic insecticide neem oil to control pests and diseases in radish plants.
